Matthew Bateman, Executive Director & CEO

After a successful 20-year career in the financial services industry with such firms as Merrill Lynch, Shearson Lehman Brothers and Smith Barney, Matt initiated the Development effort for the Devereux Foundation (NY) in 2000. After a six-year tenure, he founded Bateman Development Group (BDG), a consulting firm designed to assist non-performing Not-for-Profits with fundraising issues and programmatic difficulties. This led him in early 2010 to In Flight, Inc., a 501(c)3, full-service volunteer agency for people with developmental disabilities under the auspices of OPWDD. During 2010, Matt assumed a substantial operational role, and in October of that year, was made Executive Director and CEO. Within 18 months, he removed In Flight from Early Alert (EA) status and acquired Special Needs Program (an agency also on EA), as well as Eagle Case Management.

Nevena Ilcheva, Director of Finance & CFO

Nevena is the newest addition to the executive team of In Flight. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Public Accounting from SUNY New Paltz and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant for the State of New York. Nevena has worked as a Special Auditor Investigator for the NYS Attorney General, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Prior to joining our team she worked at KPMG and a mid-size accounting firm located in the Hudson Valley.

John Gambino, Chief Compliance Officer

John joined In Flight in 2010 as Assistant Residential Director and was transitioned to Chief Compliance Officer in 2015.  John has over 19 years of experience in the field of disability services. Since beginning his tenure in 1999, John has held many positions, including DSP, Program Manager, Residential Director, Director of Operations, Quality Assurance Director, and now his current position of CCO. John holds a degree in Business Management. John’s dedication to helping others does not stop at work. He has served his community as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for over 15 years.

Teresa Stivala, Director of Human Resources

Teresa Stivala – Teresa, a human resource professional in the field for over 20 years, has been at In Flight since February 2010. Teresa started as a consultant that year, and later came on full time to assume her current role in May 2010. Teresa spent much of her professional life working in corporate America, but has dedicated the last eight years to working for In Flight, and consulting for other local not for profit companies. Her main area of expertise is benefit administration, and she is currently in the process of becoming a certified professional through The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). When Teresa is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and is very involved in her local community, including volunteering her time to assist with fundraising for the Girl Scouts of America.

Jennifer Wells, Director of Day and Community Programs

Jennifer joined In Flight, Inc. in June of 2018 after working for The Arc of Dutchess and then New Horizons Resources. Jennifer began her career in 2000 as a DSP, followed by roles including Rec.Manager, IRA Coordinator, MSC, and AD of Community Programs. Jennifer has a BS in Sociology with a minor in Mathematics from Saint Joseph’s University.  She spent a year after college serving with JVC and continues to volunteer with Special Olympics and Girl Scouts. In 2013 Jennifer was chosen as one of the Dutchess County Chamber’s Forty under 40 award recipients. She has always had a passion for working with people with developmental disabilities and in May of 2017 Jennifer completed her Master’s degree in Developmental Disabilities with a concentration in Leadership and Advocacy from Nova Southeastern University.  Jennifer is most proud of raising her daughter and coordination of the annual Holiday Formal dance since 2005, which is a sell-out event, attended by over 400 people with disabilities from local sister agencies every year.

Sarah Branham, PhD. Director of Clinical Service

Dr. Sarah Branham became the Clinical Director in November of 2019. She earned her Ph.D. in General Psychology in March of 2020.  Sarah earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz. While finishing her Masters in 2014, Sarah began working at the ARC of Ulster Greene as a residential Staff. At this time, Sarah found her love and passion for this field and decided to make this her career.  When she earned her degree in December of 2014 she remained at Arc of Ulster Greene and transferred to the clinical department. Sarah worked in the Article 16 Clinic as both a counselor and behaviorist until May of 2016. In May of 2016, Sarah joined the clinical department at In Flight as a Behavior Invention Specialist and was promoted from within to her current role.

Rebecca Crast, Director of Residential Services

Rebecca joined In Flight in 2010. She applied to InFlight after a Mission Trip to Haiti which changed her perspective on what her purpose in life was. She started out as a per deim staff waiting for a With Out Walls Program to start.  After about 4 months this program did not start and she took a Fulltime position as a DSP in the Catskill Day Program. Since then she has held many positions, DSP, Program Manager, Senior Residence Manager, Associate Residential Director and now her current position as Director of Residential.  She continues to be passionate about mission work and tries to incorporate this in her everyday life.
